Taunggyi is Capital of Shan States and it is located 5,000ft above sea level. Approximately 140Km from Mandalay. 12 Miles from Shwe Nyaung and 103 Miles from Thazi. Taunggyi has nice, fair and cool weather with pleasant Mountainous surroundings. Taunggyi meaning Big Mountain. It is called according to the big steep mountain at the east of City. City itself is famous for its weather, and also for Pine Forest around the area. It is also attractive with its uniqueness of : 5 days Market, colourful night market, charoot factories, local Shans with their unique culture especially on their generosity on donation.
Tha Htone was the capital city of the Mon Kingdom around in the 3 rd century BC. Tha Hton is also known as the place where Theravada Buddhism was born in Myanmar. As per the traditional history, and as per the records in Bagan, it is true that Tharavara Buddhism was booming in Tha Htone before Bagan Time till Tha Htone King Ma Nu Har who was defeted to King Anawrahtar of Bagan and being taken to Bagan. The City is situated at east of Yangon across the Gulf of Moattama and located on the rail and road route. Tha Htone is also a sub-hub of lower country as it leads to many tourist attraction places like Kyeik Hti Yo, Mawlamine, Kyeik Ka Mi beach, Setse beach, etc.
Thanlyin formerly known as Syriam is now a major port city of Myanmar, located across Bago River from the city of Yangon. The City was also called “Tanyin” by Myanmar peoples. As the largest port in the country, Thilawa port. Is in Thanlyin. This place was known as port city since 1539 at the Taungoo Dynasty. In later years of 1500, Thanlyin was defeted by King of Rakhine. As per the records, the war troop of Rakhine King was lead by Filipe de Brito ( Filipe de Britio e Nicote) who was official trade representative of Rakhine. Therefore, he was made Governor of the City by Rakhine King. Brito declear his independence to his Rakhine masters in 1603 and he successfully established Portuguese rule in 1604 and 1605 till Myanmar King A Naut Phat Lun Min re-captured the city, and executed Brito by impalement ( off the head) as a punishment reserved for defilers of Buddhist Temple in 1613. Thanlyin remained as the port of Taungoo kingdom until 18th century until the time when King Alaung Paya of 3rd Myanamr Empire founder shift the port to Yangon in 1756.
Yangon is the former Capital City of Myanmar. It is known as Capital City since the country became a independent country on January 4th, 1948 till new Capital City is announced in 1989.( to Confirm). Yet, it is still remaining as commercial city.
Yangon is the main gateway to Myanmar.
City was founded by King Alaung Phaya on the site of a small village like town called Dagon when the King conquered lower Myanmar in 1755. The name of Yangon is “End or Finish of enmity and danger”. ( to confirm)
City has beautiful Lakes, one of the world’s largest gold gilt building – Shwedagon Pagoda, Parks with tress aged more than 3 or 4 decades.
Around Yangon, Bago (Pegu), a acient Capital in 2nd Myanmar Empire was founded, Thanlyin where Portuguese occupied in 17th Century by crossing the 1822 meter long bridge over Bago River, and Twante (a famous place for earthern pot and jar are produced in traditional way) can be visited.
Zalun is in Hinthada District in Ayeyawady Division. Zalun is well-known for its Historical and world’s amazing legendary story of Pyitawpyan Pagoda, Buddha Andaw, and U Thila Stupa.
Legend Story of Pyidawpyan Paya
Pyi Daw Pyan meaning Return to Native Royal Land. This Image was originally known as Mahn Aung Myin Image. The name Mahn Aung Myin signifies the Lord Gautama’s victory over the five Maras (evils) and this image was originally cast in Rakhine by King Sandar Suriya together with Mahamuni Buddha Image in Mandalay. After the image was cast, it was said to occupied a place of honour on the right side of the Maha Muni Image. Time passed by and also changing rulers by rulers when the time of British was occupying Myanmar a little by little, this Image was in Zalun worship by the people of Zalun per kind favour of Myanmar Chief Queen in Amarapura, was now taken by British to Bombay, (Mumbai), India in 1217 ( A.D 1856) to make coins. In Bombay the Buddha Image was kept in ware house with other objects including other Buddha Images. Although other objects were melt down to make coins, this image was resisting and it is amazingly found as un-destroyable by high temperature of fire, highly pounded by Hummer, knocking down in many way. All these disrespectful, and irreverent actions was said to be followed by violent thunder storms. The popular folktales teller states that these acts of shameful irreverent actions were soon to be stopped because the British monarch Her Majesty Queen Victoria suffered rigorous incomprehensible headaches. The Queen dreamt that her miserable headaches would be cured only if the Zalun Image was sent back to its true place.
And finally, this Holy Buddha Image was returned to Zalun, Myanmar.
From that time, this Buddha Image is known as Pyi Daw Pyan Paya (Return to the Native Royal Land).
